Level Baluster Connectors from Dextrusions secure their Round Aluminum Balusters, Deck Spindle, Deck Picket – The Deck Barn to deck rails without drilling. These connectors simply attach to the rail with prime guard screws (provided), install on wood as well as composite railings, and disappear from sight when balusters are installed. The plastic construction protects against the corrosion that can occur when chemicals in pressure treated lumber come in contact with aluminum balusters. The ridge design help water drain in case of cold water to freeze. Plus, the finished result for your deck is clean, neat and a sturdy baluster installation.

Ordered, shipped, and received in 5 days. That’s what I call awesome. I ordered 240 of these with the screws. Well… I really have no complaints….but I purposely ordered an extra 25 or so of these and after doing the railing, I was 5 short of completing the job. Ugh! So after counting every railing, I was shorted 22 total. Meant a quick trip the next day to the Depot, but for the money I saved here online, I was still happy.
Only other thing was the screws were that square bit and I didn’t own a bit to install these….so I used Phillips I had lying around. Railings are now done except for the stairs and I will still, without a doubt, be ordering those from Deck Barn too!. Awesome job and I highly recommend The Deck Barn!

These worked well and were easy to install. Be careful not to over torque your screw or it will go through the plastic bracket – user error only. Once you get the hang of it, this is a good system to use. Would recommend! Take your time laying them out since it is a little more difficult than the straight railing sections.

…they made installation a snap. Before I saw them for sale on your website, I was planning to drill 3/4″ holes and fitting the spindles directly into the top and bottom rails. The connectors made the job 100% easier! Only problem, the screws seemed weak, I broke two before switching to deck screws.

We didn’t realize you had to order double qty for top and bottom. Wish they would’ve caught that when we ordered. We had exactly half the amount of connectors for the amount of spindles we ordered at the same time. I also asked for a fedex tracking # via email and never received a response. I had to pay another $10.00 to order more connectors but other than that they are a nice product and easy to assemble. We are pleased with the purchase.

Just wanted to add to my earlier review – in the pictures on the website the connectors appear to be gray in color, in reality they are black and are well matched to the black powder coating on the spindles. Thought this was worth a mention because I was momentarily put off from buying these because of the color – decided to take my chances and I’m glad I did.

Was originally considering using a 3/4″ hole saw or forstner bit to cut out holes for the spindles to slide into, but this would have (1) been a pain in the neck to individually measure and drill-to-depth, (2) left the spindles free to spin or rattle around, and (3) created areas for water to pool and infiltrate the wood at the lower attachment point, eventually destroying the railings prematurely. Instead I created a jig using MDF in which I cut measured holes big enough for the connectors to drop into, lay it on top of the railing, and screw the connectors into place. Perfectly aligned connectors with minimum fuss. Paid for themselves in saved labor and headache.

They work just like they are advertised. They are a little tight on some of the balusters, but that is because of the metal shavings on the inside of the cut ends.

These are as simple as they look and work very well. Experiment with the torque setting on your drill to get the screw just tight enough without stripping in the wood or other material.

The only problem was that I ordered 220 spindles and 440
plugs. I had 12 spindles left after finished job. Had to buy
20 plugs locally to finish. Got shorted on the plugs. Still very happy with products and service from Deck Barn. I guess somebody miscounted on the plugs. Very Happy!
